Thanks to the tremendous support that you, and our sponsors provided, we were able to create a virtual Chefs in the Classroom program by producing videos for each of our lesson plans. Even in a year of Covid, we were able to adhere to protocols and deliver our program to 10 classrooms and 207 students in the Okanagan. (That is almost a thousand students in 5 years!)
While we were uncertain as to how our program would be received we soon learned it was a resounding success! The teachers, students, and volunteers all embraced the virtual concept and looked forward to teaching how to grow, cook and eat, healthy local foods. Our chefs, nutritionists, gardeners, and industry experts were happy to get down to the grassroots and share their expertise. It was truly a fulfilling experience for all involved.
