Our Chefs in the Classroom season wrapped up with one of the most exciting days of the year—Field Trip Day! And what a day it was!
Students had the opportunity to explore local farms and get a firsthand look at how food is grown in the Okanagan. They wandered through rows of fruit trees, sampled fresh produce, and asked curious questions about everything from irrigation to soil health. It was a powerful way to connect everything they’ve learned—from seed to plate.

We’re incredibly grateful to our generous farm hosts for making the day so memorable:
- Paynter’s Fruit Market – for sharing their beautiful orchard and knowledge about local fruit growing
- Homestead Foods – for showcasing small-scale, sustainable farming in action
- Summerhill Pyramid Winery – for opening their grounds and inspiring students with their biodynamic farming philosophy

And of course, no field trip is complete without a great lunch! We enjoyed delicious veggie wraps and refreshing fruit sodas from Farming Karma—the perfect way to toast a successful season.
A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers, teachers, and community partners who helped bring this program to life. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
